Element Student Ministry

Some folks have been asking about our student ministry here in North Augusta. Our new student ministry name at TrueNorth is: Element Student Ministry. The students have quickly accepted this new ministry name very fast. We have two logoes. One for high school and the "e" is the middle school logo.

We have two two services on Wednesday Nights. Our middle school service is at 6.15pm and we are currently running around 55 students. The high school service is at 7.15 pm and it is currently averaging around 65 students. This is unusual for most student ministries. Usually the MS service is more highly attended. Kids who can figure em' out.

Our four purposes are: ENGAGE a lost a culture - ENCOUNTER a real atmosphere - EVOLVE in our relationship with Christ - EXALT God with our lives. We have just finished the "Welcome to the Planet" Series by Doug Fields and Saddleback. So we have introduced our students to these ideas. Well that's it. Stay tuned for more updates with Element Student Ministry.

What is a "blog"?

Quote of the day:
Ian Wilson wrote, "what's the deal with 'blogs' anyways. are we really to lazy to pronounce the 'w' and the 'e'?"
My wife who is SUPER SMART says, "We Blog. That doesn't make sense."
If you don't know - as my wife apparently doesn't. "Blog" is short for "Web Log."

Life with a Wife

I apologize for my wife's last post! I did not make/force/order to write a post. I encouraged her to write a post to give everyone the 411 with what is going on with her school, and search for a new job.

I am in agreement with Betsy that married life is great and they we are still in the "honeymoon" stage. She watches football with us (Bowden and I) on Saturdays. I have a feeling that in 20 years she still won't watch Game Day with me. Of course she hasn't replaced the Phad (Casey, Stevie, and Ian) in watching Saturday Morning Game Day while cooking bacon in our boxers!

For those of you checking out the Tanner Blog. Don't forget to leave a comment down at the bottom. We would love to hear from you. And please don't leave any links to ADULT SITES - Carole Roy!!!

My First Post--Life

So, Walt tells me that I have to write a blog. I do not really have time to be writing blogs, but because I love him I will take the time and do it.

This first post will just be about life. First, I love married life. We have been married for about 2 and 1/2 months now and are definitetely still in the "honeymoon stage." As a matter of fact, I think married life is getting better and better as each day goes by. I pray that we will continue to grow closer and love each other more as we grow old together.

School is school. I am in law school at the University of Georgia, and I will graduate May 20, 2006. I have enjoyed school for my entire life, but after almost 21 years of school I am ready to get out! Right now I am looking for a job. I am interested in doing public interest work. Specifically, I would like to work with women, children, and families. In the past I have worked with children in the juvenile court system who have been abused or neglected. Right now I am working in a clinic through the law school where we help victims of domestic violence obtain protective orders. I know what I want to do, but I just have not quite figured out how to get paid for it yet. Keeping it in prayer.

Church is going great. I am really enjoying building relationships, particularly with our Journey Team (small group).

That's it for now.
